My early years growing up were spent in my home town of Gisborne on the East Coast of New Zealand. My father was of Ngati Porou decent, he also had an interest in the world of natural art.
I have carved many different pieces over the past few years, mostly with a reflection of my heritage, although as I have aged my perspective of the arts have somewhat changed
and I am now venturing into the wider world of the arts as they are today.
From the early age of 14yrs I started realizing that I had a gift for carving.
Wood has always been an important part of my life, and creating from wood just seemed to come naturally to me.
As time went on I ventured into the world of Bone Carving, which I found to be quite enjoyable and found myself excited to see the end result.
Another medium I am now enjoying working with is New Zealand Jade or (Green-Stone) as it is otherwise known.
I take great pleasure in combining these mediums together in one carving. There is an intense thrill knowing you have achieved a unique product and that there will only be one of it's kind.
Although I have a full time trade as a Butcher my spare time is taken up with my hobby.
I aim to please my customers and have at times used their own design to personalize a custom made piece for them
